DEMOLITIONS AND CUTS
FURNACE FLOORS
When a melting, slag cleaning, or refining furnace is shut down for maintenance, accretions of considerable magnitude remain on the furnace floor. Normally these accretions of copper, nickel, pig iron, among others, become complicated to break with percussion machines to be evacuated from inside the furnace. In this condition, the best option is to section them with fusion cuts. This can be done with a thermal lance.
Trefimet has an important variety of thermal lances that can cut any type of accretion in a furnace. Even when the oxygen supply is low pressure, Trefimet has a thermal lance that will work.
COPPER ELECTROLYTIC BLISTER
Due to its high thermal conductivity, copper is a difficult material to cut with a thermal lance. The higher the concentration of copper the material contains, the more difficult it is to cut it, which is why thermal lances with a high capacity for generating thermal energy are required. This is difficult to achieve with conventional thermal lances since normally the flows and pressures available in the oxygen networks for thermal lances in copper smelters are not capable of adequately feeding a high-energy thermal lance.
Trefimet has high-energy thermal lances that can be used to cut copper of any concentration with oxygen supplied by the smelter's own facility. The thermal lance to be used to cut high purity copper will depend on the thickness of the copper to be cut.
PIG - IRONS
Due to its high carbon content, pig iron is a difficult product to cut, since carbon is the most thermally resistant material. In this case, high energy thermal lances are required.
Trefimet has thermal lances with excellent performance in cutting pig iron.
CUTS OF FURNACE OR METALLIC STRUCTURES
To make structural modifications, before design improvements or other instances, and that require the rapid demolition of metal structures, stopping the furnace for the shortest time possible, a good thermal lance is recommended. Normally metal structures are cut with oxyfuel.
Trefimet has thermal lances suitable for oxycutting very quickly and safely, without the need for costly and time-consuming installations that seek to bring oxyfuel torch operators closer to the cutting site.
