The thermal lance is a fundamental tool in the general operation of a foundry, from the opening of passages to the cutting of different materials at different points, which makes it a highly sought-after "input" in the industry. The use of a connection system between lances is essential, as this way there is no loss of unused lance remnants and the different operations in which they are used are speeded up.
Throughout the years, the thread and coupling system has been predominant, which, although it fulfils its function, often hinders the operation and ends up exhausting the operators who deal with this task on a daily basis, leading them to discard its use. In addition, as the thread and coupling is a very rudimentary connection, it often leaks, which can also jeopardise the safety of the operation.
In response to this situation, Trefimet developed its own connection system, the FCT. This system is designed so that the connection can be made in a few seconds, with minimum effort by the operators, thus promoting its use and avoiding the waste of remnants to achieve 100% utilisation of the Trefimet thermal lance. Inside, the FCT system has an o-ring, which allows the operation to be carried out without leaks, allowing a safe operation.
Each Trefimet thermal lance is equipped with a fixed connector at one end, where the remnant of an already used lance is attached. To achieve a successful connection, simply align the new lance with the remnant of an already used lance and insert the smooth tip of the remnant into the FCT connector and when a metallic "click" is felt, the remnant is coupled to the new lance.
